DISK Add New Volume from VMWare host

Installation of a New Physical Volume

  1. Create and allocate the disk to the Linux guest on the VMWare Host.
  2. On the Linux guest, rescan the scsi bus.
    1. # echo '- - -' > /sys/class/scsi_host/host#

OR

    1. # echo "scsi add-single-device" 0 0 X 0 > /proc/scsi/scsi
      1. X is the Next SCSI ID.
  1. Review the messages log for the new device name of the disk.
    1. # tail /var/log/messages
  2. Follow the PV Install Procedure.
