This process is seperated into two sections, the first section is to prepare AIX to remove the failed pdisk and configure the new replacement disk. The second section will assist in reconstructing the RAID array.
Removal of a SAS Physical Volume
- # diag
- Select: Task Selection
- Select: Hot Plug Task
- Select: RAID Array Manager
- Select: IBM SAS Disk Array Manager
- Select: Diagnostics and Recovery Options
- Select: SCSI and SCSI Raid Hot Plug Manager
- Select: Replace/Remove a Device Attached to an SCSI Hot Swap Enclosure Device
- Select: Slot # of the pdisk you wish to remove.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete removal.
- Press: F3
- Select: Configure Added/Replaced Devices
- Exit from diag.
Rebuild the RAID Array
- # diag
- Select: Task Selection
- Select: Hot Plug Task
- Select: RAID Array Manager
- Select: IBM SAS Disk Array Manager
- Select: Reconstruct a SAS Disk Array
- The following screen will show the failed pdisk, press the [Enter] key to select the disk.
- Press: F7 to commit.
- Press: [Enter] at the next screen to begin the reconstruct process.
- This process can take several minutes to several hours.
